Zimbabwe's wildlife conservation story belongs to the people patrolling and protecting the land. Nyaradzo Auxillia Hoto's work earned recognition at an international award ceremony in 2022.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature listed Hoto among its International Ranger Award recipients in July that year. It described her contribution within the Akashinga programme and community-focused conservation.

The award acknowledges professional conservation work, not one individual single-handedly safeguarding an entire park.

We celebrate the name alongside the team, the communities and the skills required for the work. Ranger recognition is part of Zimbabwean history too.
