On 20 March 2025, Coventry was elected the tenth President of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC confirmed that she was the first woman and first African elected to the role. She formally took office after the handover from Thomas Bach on 23 June 2025. As of October 2026, she is IOC president, not president-elect.
Her story connects the history of Zimbabwean sport to the governance of global athletics. OurPride should document both her sporting record and her international roles with dates and primary sources, without implying endorsement of every public policy or political position.
There is room for further research into the coaches, swimming clubs, schools, supporters and other athletes whose work contributed to Zimbabwe's sporting development.
