Some Zimbabwean sporting histories are easy to find because a television camera was there. Others sit in chess tournament tables, provincial medal results or the memories of coaches. For this issue we look beyond football and cricket at athletics, para-athletics, rowing, chess and the National Youth Games. We also turn to wildlife rangers whose daily work protects our landscapes. A personal best, a national title, an international appearance and a professional conservation award are different things, all worth recording precisely. The quieter the stage, the more important it is for a community archive to preserve the names and sources.
