What was playing at home, on the bus or at a friend's birthday? Some memories are marked by a sound before they are marked by a date. We return to Marshall Munhumumwe and the Four Brothers, the early urban grooves generation, Roki, Jazz 105 and the Book Café, alongside bassists and jazz vocalists who deserve credit for the sound. This collection is also about promoters, venues, studios and listeners. A band might be on stage for two hours, but the scene around it took years to build. The stories are sourced history; when readers contribute nostalgic recollections, those memories will be clearly identified as their own.
